Our project highlights the importance of professional collaboration and teaming to provide rich and varied opportunities for students to code within the curriculum expectations at the kindergarten, Grade 3 and Grade 4 levels.

Examining Equity Through a Literacy Lens
We examined how teachers could enrich integrated literacy programs (reading/writing skills infused within big ideas from history/geography to teach equity topics). We deepened our professional learning around equity and best practices in literacy.

Building Math Skill and Confidence Through Collaborative Mentorship
To engage our grades 3 and 6 students, we implemented a Centres-based “Learning Buddies” model where students moved through a variety of tasks and activities. Grade 6 students assumed the role of peer mentor for the Grade 3 students.

Examining Literacy Through a Health and Wellness Lens
We wanted to enrich reading/writing to teach health, wellness & well-being – and an inclusive support model for special education students. Results shown as Achievement, Equity & Well-Being to address the needs of the whole child – not just literacy.
