Connecting Mathematics in the Real World
A team of four teachers engaged in a year-long inquiry into student understanding of the link between mathematical concepts and real-world applications. Activities were created to promote the observation of mathematics through a student lense.

Building a Community of Mathematicians
This project explores how we can build a community of mathematicians among our colleagues, our classrooms and throughout the school community. Some strategies we explored include problem-solving, number talks and the use of math tools.

Math Inquiry Across the Strands
This inquiry addresses geometry, number sense, measurement in a social studies context. Our initial inquiry was the creation of a Winter Math Festival. The second inquiry was an investigation of societies around the world (historic and modern).

Documentation and Visibility of Student Thinking
We intentionally developed lessons as opportunities for making student thinking more visible. Debriefing lessons using student work recorded on technology allowed all parties to identify misconceptions, give feedback and assess student thinking.

Using Three-Act Math and Technology to Improve Student Engagement and Increase Conceptual Understanding in Mathematics
Having experienced success with Three-Act Math, we were interested in pursuing more time to research and create a teacher-friendly Resource of Three-Act Math and related online activities. This resource would align to the Ontario Math Curriculum.
