Part 1 – Improving the Quality of Writing through Revision
This resource addresses the following writing purposes: persuade/recount (biography)/entertain (comic and prose). Included are criteria designed to guide the teacher’s instruction and monitor student progress. Mini-lessons, anchor charts and rubrics developed from the criteria focus on the following revision strategies: good leads, appropriate vocabulary, voice, focus, organization and elaboration of ideas. Feedback prompts and a checklist for conferencing with students are also included.
Part 2 – Numeration Investigations
This resource includes inquiry investigations for the junior grades addressing fractions, decimals, multiplication, division and algebra. The investigative process is based on Van de Walle’s work and uses a selection of resources to create open ended investigations for each grade level expectation. This resource has established criteria, teacher feedback questions and checklists to monitor student progress. Whole group, small group and individual investigations are included as well as some literature connections.
