The GEMS Mystery Festival contains two units – one for primary and one for junior/intermediate. It allows students to examine a crime scene, and then collect and analyse evidence. The process the students go through allows facilitators to demonstrate the use of the 16 Habits of Mind to solve a crime. This is a great resource to introduce the Habits of Mind, introduce the language to the students, demonstrate how using the Habits of Mind will assist them in solving the crime, how they are linked to the Learning Skills on the Report Card, and then incorporate the Habits of Mind into daily teaching as part of the success criteria
