Living and Non-Living Things

A group of students took pictures around our school and then we organized and labelled them according to living and non-living things using the PicCollage app

During Earth Week, the students created an art piece to show the message that we would rather live in a clean community. They painted a polluted and a clean version of the Earth. One tree was green and growing, while one tree was dead and had garbage in it that we had collected in the community. This was installed for the spring concert. Little seeds

Using observation and recordings, students could use the iPads to document the growth of a sunflower seed to a seedling before planting it

Movie Theatre

We created a movie theatre in our dramatic play area and we asked the students to make posters to advertise movies they were interested in. The students asked to use the iPads to look up pictures of the current movies and this student drew Boss Baby.

Sun Catchers

Students used PicCollage to share pictures of their sun catchers that they made with water and nature items. We froze them in the shed and hung them on the fence to catch the sun!

Shoe Graph

We made a bar graph with our shoes. We organized them by if they had laces, Velcro, Velcro and laces, and slip-on. The students documented their learning and shared with parents on Seesaw.

Peas and beans

Students used the iPads to take pictures of growing peas and beans. This was shared on Seesaw for parents to see.

Egg Decorating

The students used the iPads to look up different ways to decorate the eggs

Painting Outside

Students documented their art work and shared with parents on Seesaw

Letter Hunt

The students used the iPads to hunt for letters around the classroom and then used PicCollage to create a collage of the pictures they took and added text to their picture

Nature walk

Students went out for a walk to see signs of spring and found pollution and garbage in the neighbourhood. This sparked our inquiry on: How can we help the Earth? Using the app PicCollage, we could share this with parents on Seesaw.

Student Art Documentation

Students took photos of art they created and shared it on the Smartboard and discussed with peers

Signs of Spring

Students went on a nature walk and took pictures of signs of spring. They used these pictures to create a slideshow for their peers.

Shape Hunt

Students made and found triangles and then took pictures and wrote text

Shape Hunt

Found shapes and counted the different sides. Used PicCollage to add words to their picture.

Students searched for circles outside and then created a collage of the different circles they found and added text to the collage

Graphic Organizer

Students used PicCollage to create a list of different sports. They then used this to help support writing.

Students used the PicCollage app to create a graphic organizer of the characters in Super Mario. They then referred to their organizer when writing stories about Super Mario.

Number Hunt

The students used the iPad to take pictures of different numbers they could find. They then used PicCollage to group the same numbers and then added text to their document.
