Creating a PLC Within the Kindergarten Division Based on Implementing STEM/STEAM Activities Within Project-Based Learning
Our goal is to create a PLC to research/implement STEM activities and makerspaces into project-based learning in FDK to make learning more engaging, authentic and self-motivating for students and educators, and to share this learning with others.

Focusing on Spatial Reasoning in Kindergarten
Using playful pedagogy with open-ended tasks based on the resource Taking Shape, we saw our students develop greater spatial thinking abilities. We saw the gains reflected in further tasks, free play and everyday language.

Exploring Early Numeracy Through Inquiry
The Exploring Early Numeracy Through Inquiry project examined the development of early number concepts in K-2. We deepened our understanding of designing a mathematically rich environment to support exploration of number concepts at school and home.

Exploring Spatial Reasoning Through Coding
Teachers/students will learn how to code as a tool for learning. Teachers will engage in professional learning opportunities on how to use the various coding apps and tools and collaborate with a lead teacher to support implementation in class.

Facilitating all Students to Move Toward Self-Assessment and Self-Regulating in Math
Teachers and students co-created success criteria and a single-point rubric to work through problem-solving questions and self-assessing their own work. Students were able to determine their own next steps using either process or task feedback.
