A 21st century educator has a vast array of technological tools at their disposal to enhance student learning in their incredibly diverse classrooms. In this course, we will explore the theoretical foundations behind the use and knowledge of assistive technology and learn to understand the meaning behind the statement “Good for all, necessary for some”. Candidates will learn to how to program plan, select, implement and evaluate technological tools for the purpose of enhancing the learning of students with and without exceptionalities. They will also learn about the role of Assistive Technology in assessment and evaluation and how to collaborate with parents, guardians and other professionals in order to promote success for their students. Throughout the duration of the course, candidates will also use and become familiar with 21st century tools for educators such as social media, blogging and other online resources in order to support their ongoing learning about Assistive Technology.
