Candidates of Social Science Senior will explore the disciplines and theories underpinning the study of anthropology, psychology, and sociology. This course examines program planning, learning expectations and organizational approaches to the study of the Social Sciences. Candidates will learn about the secondary school environment and the adolescent learner while engaging in interactive discussions and activities. The successful candidate will learn to apply current learning strategies, assessment and evaluation structures, as well as principles of curriculum design for Senior Social Science. Candidates will also investigate current pedagogical approaches related to teaching and learning in the grade 11 and 12 Social Science classroom.
Prerequisites
- Certificate of Qualification:
Must be registered with the Ontario College of Teachers or hold an interim Certificate of Qualification. Must hold an acceptable university degree or equivalent. It is no longer necessary to send in a copy of your Certificate of Qualification. We have access to this information via the OCT Public Registry. - 2 Full University Degree Credits in the Subject:Official transcript(s) showing proof of successful completion of a minimum of 2.0 university degree credits or the equivalent in the teaching subject. Acceptable Social Sciences-related subjects include Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Law, Philosophy, Politics, Religion and Women’s And Gender Studies (courses are determined to be eligible at the discretion of Continuing and Professional Learning).
