Course Description
Reading Part 3 is designed to meet the professional needs of educators wishing to assume leadership responsibilities in literacy education. The course considers how educators can use their understanding of the research literature about literacy learning and instruction to build professional learning communities crucial to effecting school-wide changes in literacy practices and materials. Close attention is paid to both obstacles to schools’ changing their literacy instructional practices and to approaches that facilitate schools to adopt instructional procedures and materials that improve students’ reading, writing, and learning.
Notes
Teachers holding qualifications in technological education is eligible to take this Three-Session Qualification course.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites for Specialist:
- Completion of Part 1 and Part 2:
Evidence of the completion of Part 1 and Part 2 as shown on your Certificate of Qualification. It is no longer necessary to send in a copy of your Certificate of Qualification. We have access to this information via the OCT Public Registry.
- Certificate of Teaching Experience – 2 Years:
Evidence of at least two (2) years of successful teaching experience, including one (1) year of experience in the subject in which the qualification is being sought. This experience must be certified by the appropriate Supervisory Officer on the ‘OISE Certification of Teaching Experience Form’.
