Reading Specialist focuses on leadership skills required to promote effective reading instruction; planning coordinating, implementing and evaluating current Ontario Curriculum, policies and guidelines, creating partnerships between community and school; evaluating and allocating resources; promoting the use of information and communication technology; and demonstrating an understanding of effective staff development strategies to support effective reading instruction. This course is open to all elementary and secondary teachers who have a basic qualification in general studies or technological studies and who have completed Reading Parts 1 and 2 and two years of successful teaching experience.
