Principal’s Qualification Program (PQP) Part 2 (Ontario Principals’ Council, Fall 2024, Online)

Our Principal’s Qualification Program (PQP) is organized into 12 modules, six in Part 1 and six in Part 2. The modules incorporate the five domains of the Ontario Leadership Framework and Personal Leadership Resources. This Additional Qualification (AQ) program is developed based on the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) PQP guidelines. The expectations are met through online learning and face-to-face interaction between the candidates, facilitators and guest presenters.

The Principal’s Qualification Program (PQP) Part 2 continues to build knowledge and capacity about the role and responsibilities of the school leader in Ontario’s publicly funded system. The program is based on 12 modules (125 hours) and the completion of a Leadership Inquiry Practicum (60 hours) and is a requirement for the formal principal role.

Candidates must have:

  • Ontario College of Teachers profile reflecting that they are a Member in Good Standing.
  • Completed PQP Part 1
    • If the qualification is not yet posted on the OCT certificate and the course was completed with a provider other than OPC, a Conditional Admission Form (for Part 2 candidates) or equivalent documentation to verify the completion must be submitted before the start of the Part 2 program.
    • For OPC candidates that are registering for consecutive sessions (Part 1 followed by Part 2) the verification of completion will be handled internally and the above form/documentation requirement is not applicable.
