Course Description

This additional qualification focuses on instruction in the vocal program for these divisions. Topics will include the building of community in a vocal class and choral ensemble, aural skills and conducting, musical literacy, score preparation, repertoire-based teaching with a focus on Canadian resources, ensemble teamwork in an adaptive world, use of technology to support singers and case studies of vocal music scenarios. The learning is active and participatory.

Notes

Candidates must be able to read music.

Teachers holding qualifications in technological education are also eligible to take this Three-Session Qualification course.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites for Part 1:

  1. Certificate of Qualification:
    Must be registered with the Ontario College of Teachers.  It is no longer necessary to send in a copy of your Certificate of Qualification. We have access to this information via the OCT Public Registry.
  2. Candidates must be able to read music.
