Suicide and self-harm are frightening and serious issues for those who work closely with children. Understandably, many educators want to support those in distress.

However, many are afraid to do the wrong thing and make matters worse. This micro-credential equips educators with a skill set to gain confidence and understanding across three topic:

By the end of the micro-credential, participants will:

– Begin to recognize and respond safely and supportively to indicators of suicidality or self-harm.

– Learn to teach the proactive skills and competencies to reduce children and youth’s risk of suicidality and self-harm.

– Participate in discussion and idea exchange with other teachers, workers, and childcare professionals to discover how to apply preventative mental health approaches to your classroom.

– Engage in video analysis and case studies for applied practice and learning and take-away resources to continuously apply your learning.

– Join our supportive community of hundreds of educators and youth mental health advocates who have already received their credentials.

Completing this online course will earn you a Mental Health Skills for Educators micro-credential from Wilfrid Laurier University. Complete all six micro-credentials in this series to earn a Mental Health Skills for Educators certificate.
