Course Description

The Intermediate ABQ in Mathematics focuses on the curriculum in grades 7 to 10. The two strands of this course are the curriculum content and the new trends of teaching and assessing mathematics for adolescent learners. Participants will examine a variety of modules of teaching Mathematics for the adolescent learner.

Prerequisites

  1. Certificate of Qualification:
    Must be registered with the Ontario College of Teachers or hold an interim Certificate of Qualification. Must hold an acceptable university degree or equivalent. It is no longer necessary to send in a copy of your Certificate of Qualification. We have access to this information via the OCT Public Registry.
  2. 2 Full University Degree Credits in the Subject:Official transcript(s) showing proof of successful completion of a minimum of 2.0 university degree credits or the equivalent in the teaching subject.  Note: At least one course should be a MATH coded course (examples include calculus and algebra).
    OR
    Pre-Admission Test in Mathematics:

    Successful completion of the Math proficiency test at OISE (valid for 3 years from test date) will be accepted in lieu of the degree-credit requirements.

PLEASE NOTE:

1.0 university degree credits is the equivalent to 1 full year course, or, 2 half-year courses.
