This course introduces you to the principles of counselling, the practice of guidance in the classroom and school setting, and theories of human development. You will acquire greater skill in helping students with self-management, planning, and problem solving, in addition to skills to improve your communication and relationship skills with students and parents. Legal and ethical issues that are relevant for guidance counselors will be examined including issues dealing with sexual misconduct and abuse.
