This course provides candidates with a strong foundation and understanding of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples. It explores the contemporary histories of Indigenous peoples in what is now Canada, and connects these histories to the development of learners, program planning and implementation, assessment, the learning environment and ethical considerations related to teaching and learning across the curriculum. Participants will recognize the individuality of experiences and consider strategies that students use and modify their instructional practices. Candidates will be involved in research, presentations, professional reading, writing activities and whole/small group dialogue sessions (face-to-face and online) relating to current practices and issues.
