The First Nations, Metis and Inuit Studies Intermediate course will be of interest to teachers of the Intermediate division who to wish to gain further knowledge and insight into the culture, values and perspectives of First Nation, Metis and Inuit peoples. This course will enable teachers to effectively integrate and infuse aspects of Native Studies throughout the Intermediate curriculum. There will be opportunities to explore in depth the First Nations, Metis and Inuit world views, challenges and successes through media, community connections and class sharing. Lists of Native Studies resources and practical ideas to use in the Intermediate classroom will be made available to candidates.
Prerequisites
- Certificate of Qualification:
Must be registered with the Ontario College of Teachers or hold an interim Certificate of Qualification. Must hold an acceptable university degree or equivalent. It is no longer necessary to send in a copy of your Certificate of Qualification. We have access to this information via the OCT Public Registry. - 2 Full University Degree Credits in the Subject:
Official transcript(s) showing proof of successful completion of a minimum of 2.0 university degree credits or the equivalent in the teaching subject.
Note: related subjects include Humanities and/or Social Sciences.

1.0 university degree credits is the equivalent to 1 full year course, or, 2 half-year courses.
