Emerging Leader Development Program – Module 1: Having a Professional/Challenging Conversation (Ontario Principals’ Council, Feb 2025)

This program highlights the skills and capacities that support teacher development and helps to support teachers who are considering formal school leadership. Having courageous conversations is a part of our daily work as both educators and school leaders and this module explores how to do this with empathy and authenticity in order to impact change and improvement in schools.

Module Information:

  • The legal duties of principals as outlined in the Education Act
  • The Ontario Leadership Framework: developing an understanding of the 5 domains and how the OLF can be used as a guide for professional growth
  • The personal leadership resources and how they impact the role of the principal
  • Emotional Intelligence (EI)
