Our Communications Technology Grades 9 /10 ABQ will use an activity-based, project-driven approach as you acquire new technical skills, create project resources, design your curriculum documents and develop assessment and evaluation tools that you will require to teach a Grade 9 or 10 Communication Technology course in your school. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate online or on-site with a group of fellow teachers on a number of projects, as well as discuss with them and the instructor theoretical and practical issues of common interest. The emphasis in our course will be on open-ended cooperative problem solving with a focus on the design process as well as the product or solution. Our combined insights, experience and explorations will provide you with the tools and resources needed to create an engaging Communications Technology course for your students, school and community.

By the time you complete Communications Technology (Grades 9/10), you’ll know about:

  • The theory and practice implemented in broad based technology classes
  • Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and teaching every student in the digital age
  • The characteristics of a successful student centered community based Communication Technology program
  • Developing your program based on an engaging curriculum that meets the Ministry guidelines and the needs of your school and community
  • Designing effective assessment and evaluation practices to support authentic learning
  • Effectively involving school administrators, parents/guardians and community partners in your program.

You will complete activities that will enable you to:

  • Apply your theoretical knowledge to practical classroom strategies and tools
  • Integrate a variety of new technical skills into your classroom projects
  • Deliver short online tutorials to enrich your classroom and share with fellow teachers
  • Draw on a wide variety of resources for classroom projects and tutorials
  • Collaborate online as part of an effective professional learning community
