In this session, teachers will learn the basics of block based coding and how to make use of mathematical principles to create content of and for learning. Coding is cross curricular. Participants will engage in hands on development of work samples appropriate to subjects, grade level, and classroom makeup. Assessment is not about final products, but rather about thinking. Work that is created in Scratch, Tickle, and other similar programs depends on communication between the programmer and user, and as a result, the depth of content explanation is remarkable.
