Topics include:

  • facilitating critical dialogue regarding Ontario curriculum, resources and government policies, frameworks and strategies
  • deepening an understanding of musicianship (for example, various vocal composition techniques, accompanying, conducting, arranging)
  • continuing to refine sight-reading and ear training skills required to implement intermediate/senior level music curriculum
  • critically designing and integrating culturally inclusive pedagogies within program design, planning and development
  • collaboratively designing and integrating strategies that support learners’ resiliency, well-being and mental health
  • creating three part lesson plans (minds on, action, and consolidation), learning goals and success criteria related to vocal music
  • applying various notation, sequencing, and  recording software, social media and emerging technologies to enhance student learning in vocal music
  • applying knowledge related to directing an ensemble including rehearsal strategies, repertoire selection and conducting techniques
  • applying correct vocal techniques
  • collaboratively integrating assessment and evaluation methods that honour the dignity, emotional wellness and cognitive development of all students
  • advocating for music, the arts and artistic needs of students with colleagues, parents and the wider school community.
