The purpose of this course is to extend and apply the skills from Part I and II, with a focus on leadership role in designing, administering and evaluating Guidance programs. It focuses on more of a comprehensive exploration of the Guidance program with an emphasis on the role of the Department Head.
Topics in this course include:
· implementing guidance curriculum policy, including the Career Studies course
· understanding of leadership within a guidance context
· enhancing a repertoire of counseling techniques, group intervention and facilitation skills
· developing a variety of student assessment and evaluation instruments appropriate to the developmental stage of students and the delivery of the guidance curriculum
· implementing, through the Program Effectiveness Survey, guidance program evaluation to help the school improve its guidance program plan
· demonstrating knowledge of legal and ethical issues and responsibilities related to guidance and counseling, career education and workplace learning (e.g. privacy act, freedom of information act, sexual abuse and harassment)
· understanding changes in computer technology that facilitate the processing of student course selection, scheduling and record management required by the OSR and the OST
