The Adult Education course has been developed for all those with an interest and\or background in Adult Education and who have a desire to extend and apply knowledge, skills, and practices in the design, implementation, and assessment of Adult Education programs or courses.
The course addresses contexts and theories underpinning Adult Education, such as curriculum policy, curriculum content, and assessment. This course provides opportunities to explore instructional strategies and learning environments that support the diverse needs of the adult learner. Candidates will engage in discussions and participate in group work to critically inquire into and refine professional practice as an adult educator.

- Theoretical foundations of adult education
- Characteristics of adult learners
- Adult theories of learning
- Design, implementation and assessment of adult education programs or courses
- Expectations, strategies and assessment practices in response to the individual needs of adults
- Inclusive and flexible learning environments conducive to adult development
- Differentiated instruction and universal design, development and implementation of learning experiences for adult learners
- Teaching strategies and learning environments conducive to adult learning
- Current research, trends and practices related to adult education
- Resources that support learning goals and career objectives of adult learners
- Ministry of Education curriculum and district school board policies and guidelines in relation to adult education programs or courses
