During this webinar, participants will observe and engage in spatial reasoning tasks, and become aware of the different curriculum connections embedded in these tasks across the primary grades. They will explore ways to incorporate these activities and connect them to expectations in multiple strands in order to assess student learning and understanding. By the end of the webinar, participants will have a number of rich tasks at their fingertips to use in their classrooms.
These tasks will include lessons and games involving symmetry, composing and decomposing 2 D and 3 D shapes and objects using a variety of materials and manipulatives found in most classrooms. Curriculum expectations for different strands and grades will be identified and connected to each task so that participants can clearly see assessment opportunities.
