This conversation/session will address the favourable impact a variety of both traditional media and social media is having on boys’ literacy in the presenter’s grade 9 applied classes. Discussion includes what did work, what didn’t and how the students responded to the different learning experience. Student engagement increased as the students (mostly boys) take ownership of their work through various applications of technology. The implications are far reaching; the students are not only writing but reflecting and building social networks.
