This session is the second in a 3-part series.
New research in cognitive science shows that students are more likely to become engaged and successful problem solvers if the teacher breaks challenges into well-scaffolded steps and gives continuous feedback and adequate practice and review. By raising the bar incrementally, teachers can help students learn to persevere so they can eventually tackle more complex problems independently. This webinar will show you how to use JUMP Materials to teach effective problem solving strategies such as using systematic search, making models and diagrams, making simper versions of a problem and using patterns.
Other sessions in this series:
- April 20: Introduction to the Methods of JUMP Math (Elementary)
- May 7: Problem Solving for Every Student Using JUMP Math (Gr. 4-8)
Presented by: John Mighton, JUMP Math Founder.
