Find out how you can help primary students to learn about patterning and positional language by moving through a grid in a beginners’ coding app geared towards our youngest learners, ScratchJr. Coding can help support development of spatial reasoning skills, which is important for children’s future success in school. ScratchJr is a sandbox-style (an exploration-based environment) coding app for iPads, android tablets and chromebooks and is perfect for young children. Unplugged (without computer) coding ideas will also be presented.

Message from the presenter:
To fully benefit during this webinar, it would be great if you have access to both a computer to view the webinar and an ipad, android tablet or chromebook. We will be using ScratchJr for part of the session. ScratchJr is a free app available in the Apple and Android stores and can be downloaded ahead of time or during the webinar. ScratchJr will not work with phones yet, but will with tablets. The session will still be useful if you do not have the second device (videos showing examples will be shared).
