Problem solving needs to permeate the mathematical program…[and] is seen as the main strategy for teaching mathematics. (Guide to Effective Instruction) Unfortunately, problem solving is often equated with and limited to solving word problems. Problem solving can be so much more! Join the conversation and discuss how we can put our students in problematic situations and leverage student uncertainty for deep learning rather than unbearable frustration. Topics such as growth mindset and 21st Century Competencies will be addressed and, of course, we will do some math!
