This workshop will give audience members the basic tools, strategies, and outline for creating a sustainable classroom economy within the elementary context. Participants will learn how to effectively implement and maintain a classroom economy in order to increase mathematical skill and financial literacy. Students will be encouraged to engage with mathematics in a way that provides opportunities for authentic practice and learning. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to implement an engaging classroom environment that builds in a system of management that mimics the world outside of school, without creating another subject for teachers to teach.
