The Additional Basic Qualification course in Senior History is a 125-hour course designed to enable teachers to increase their competence and knowledge by exploring the various orientations and particularities of learning and teaching. This instruction is based on the teacher’s ability to create positive learning experiences for the student. The course focuses on the discipline and theory of the subject matter development, planning, implementation, and assessment of learning. It also addresses provincial legislation and policies in Ontario. The learning expectations and content are derived from the guidelines developed by the Ontario College of Teachers. The Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession and the Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession provide the foundation for the approach taken throughout the course.
