I am teaching Grade 6 Math this year. Please join me as I share the pedagogical beliefs on which I’ve built my program and the “nuts and bolts” which bring those beliefs to life in my classroom. In this webinar, teachers will discuss:
1) the importance of developing a growth mindset in Junior students and how I’ve worked to do that
2) the need to balance problem solving with computational fluency
3) how I make sure visitors to my classroom would recognize that it is 2016 and not 1986
4) planning a “route” through the curriculum so that students avoid learning skills in isolation
5) the purposeful use of manipulatives in Grade 6
