“Play is the beginning of knowledge.” – George Dorsey
During our school reorganization in the Fall of 2014, I was moved from teaching Grade 8 to teaching Full-Day Kindergarten. Little did I know it would be the most incredible year of professional development. I really did learn all (well, lots!) I needed to know in Kindergarten. In this webinar, teachers will discuss:
- how analysing purposeful play of students can provide teachers with insight into student understandings (and misunderstandings) of mathematical concepts beyond the FDK classroom.
- how a “playful” classroom naturally addresses such challenges as inquiry, differentiation, and cross-curricular instruction…all of which are key pedagogical considerations for maximizing student learning.
