This project addresses the subject of bringing differentiated learning strategies into the Ontario Literacy Course. There are three distinct packages of resources for teachers: Sports, Cars, and Video Games.
Each package contains: a News Report, a Series of Paragraphs, a Summary, an Informational Paragraph, a Graphic Reading, and an Informational/Narrative Reading, specific to one of the topics selected by students as most interesting to them.
These packages will allow teachers to teach the general skill behind the reading or writing task, and then provide students with their choice of topic to complete the task. Throughout the course, students can stay with one topic, or switch between the three, depending on their interests.
