In Hospitality Services 9/10, the elements of the hospitality services industry will be explored as they apply to the broad-based area of Hospitality and Tourism Technology. Candidates will explore basic hospitality services in food preparation, health and safety standards, and the use of specialized tools and equipment in the context of hospitality and tourism activities. Emphasis will be on developing practical skills and knowledge with curriculum design focusing on developing activity-based projects that engage a variety of design and problem-solving processes. Instructional strategies, including cooperative learning, problem-solving, classroom management for a safe classroom, and evaluation of performance-based learning provide a focus for the development of learning modules and other instructional methods appropriate for broad-based and integrated technology programs. The course includes evaluation of participants’ technical proficiency and safe use of tools and equipment in Hospitality and Tourism Technology.
