- Region: Central Ontario, Eastern Ontario, GTA, Northern Ontario, Southern Ontario
- Topic: Critical Thinking, Mathematics
- Grades: Intermediate (grades 7-10), Junior (grades 4-6)
This session is an opportunity for junior and intermediate mathematics teachers to explore how they can “banish the ghost” of anxiety from their classrooms and support a growth-mindset both within their students and within themselves as mathematics educators. Using the Critical Thinking Consortium’s approach of “rigorous inquiry” in the mathematics classroom, this webinar will support teachers in a collaborative process of considering the research, instructional strategies, classroom ideas, and attitudes that nurture confidence and support achievement in elementary mathematics. Resources: “Tips for Teachers – Critical thinking in elementary mathematics” and “Tips for Teachers – Deepening mathematical reasoning”
NOTE: This session is the first in a four-part series. Part 2 will take place on Thurs. Nov. 27, with the remaining sessions scheduled in early 2015.
