This course explores the senior secondary school environment and examines our values, perceptions and knowledge related to teaching and learning Science in Grades 11 and 12. In this course, we will understand the need of the adolescent learner and explore effective program planning and delivery, based on equity and inclusion. We will learn how to broaden the scope and extent of expectations in senior classes and prepare students to understand, adapt and contribute to a rapidly changing world as they stand on the threshold of entering post-secondary destinations in a global community. We will enhance learning through professional readings, hands-on investigations, discussions, ongoing analysis, reflection and finally an independent learning project. The course offers the candidates the opportunity to engage in collaborative learning, relating theory to practice and reflective practice. These learning experiences will provide the basis for your understanding of current Senior Science teaching and learning and Ministry policy, as well as enable you to prepare, implement and access curriculum for senior students.
