The amount of children and youth seeking help for eating disorders in Canada has increased significantly.

People are often diagnosed with eating disorders later in adolescence. However, many children and youth show early warning signs.

Often it falls to educators to recognize these signs.

By the end of the micro-credential, participants will:

– Begin to recognize and respond supportively to early indicators of eating disorders.

– Learn how to help children resist negative messaging and social pressure to engage in unhealthy eating and weight-loss behaviour.

– Participate in discussion and idea exchange with other teachers, workers, and childcare professionals to discover how to apply preventative mental health approaches to your classroom.

– Engage in video analysis and case studies for applied practice and learning and take-away resources to continuously apply your learning.

– Join our supportive community of hundreds of educators and youth mental health advocates who have already received their credentials.

Completing this online course will earn you a Mental Health Skills for Educators micro-credential from Wilfrid Laurier University. Complete all six micro-credentials in this series to earn a Mental Health Skills for Educators certificate.
