This Specialist course continues to build on the understanding of Indigenous histories, traditions, cultures, and world view covered in Part 1, and Part 2. This course further focuses on how to incorporate Indigenous knowledge, history and current issues into pedagogy and classroom practice to support all students moving towards reconciliation.
This course will be using technology such as virtual classrooms, audio recordings, and video assignments in an effort to disrupt text communication and respect the oral tradition of Indigenous people.
PREREQUISITES
- OCT member in good standing with a permanent or temporary teaching certificate
- Successful completion of the Additional Qualification course: FNMI Peoples: Understanding Traditional Teachings, Histories, Current Issues and Cultures, Part 2; and
- Two years of successful teaching experience, certified by a supervisory officer.
