Mathematics is often a difficult sell for many students, and in the wake of the global pandemic, more students than ever are questioning the purpose of school in general and mathematics in particular. In this session, we will share strategies that can be used to not only help re-engage students in mathematics education, but to help them see themselves as mathematically powerful. Some of the strategies that will be shared include differentiated project-based learning, goal setting, shifting assessment strategies, using intervention materials in ways that empower students, and helping them to pose their own problems.
