Leanne Oliver currently serves as a classroom math teacher and Curriculum Chair of Mathematics at All Saints Catholic Secondary School in the Durham Catholic District School Board. As a co-creator of UP (Ultimate Potential) Math, Leanne has a growth mindset and believes that with the proper support, each and every student can achieve their ultimate potential. Leanne’s past participation in several TLLP and international (NORCAN) learning projects has taught her the critical value of teacher collaboration and de-privatized classroom environments. Leanne’s most recent learning has focused on developing and implementing classroom practices that address and honour the role of assessment in supporting growth mindset and student ownership of learning. Leanne has shared her learning at various provincial and international conferences.
Trish Maecker is an experienced classroom teacher currently working at All Saints Catholic Secondary School in the Durham Catholic District School Board. Trish has served as a lead and participant in several TLLP projects, as well as NORCAN, an international project that brought together educators from Ontario, Alberta and Norway in a quest to improve the educational experience of students in the math classroom. As an UP (Ultimate Potential) Math teacher, Trish understands the value of growth mindset and targeted planning and support in helping students to overcome obstacles to learning. Trish’s most recent learning has centred on building assessment practices that honour mistakes and nurture the growth mindset of her students. Trish is also a strong believer in the impact of de-privatized classrooms and teacher course teams on collective teacher efficacy in a school community. Trish has shared her learning at various provincial and international conferences.
