Teaching English Language Learners, part 1 has been developed to introduce teachers to the theory and practice of second language teaching and learning from a classroom teacher perspective. The course will prepare you to effectively teach English language learners in a variety of classroom settings. This course will examine underlying theories of language acquisition, the development of a safe, welcoming and equitable environment, assessment and programming as it pertains to English language learners and explore parent and community connections. Part 1 meets all of the requirements and expectations of the Ontario College of Teachers.
