This course explores the mission of Catholic schools, sacred scriptures, spiritual and liturgical life, ethics and morality, the Church and a post-modern world, the pedagogical practice for religious education, and the faith journey related to teaching and learning across the divisions.
Topics include:
- adapting teaching practice to reflect the mission of Catholic schools and Catholic school board policies, guidelines and programs
- integrating into practice the understanding that the Bible as Sacred Scriptures is God’s revelation to humanity, the story of God’s relationship with the Jewish people and the early Christian communities, and encouraging critical reflection on personal and social realities
- engaging in dialogue regarding the relationship between biblical texts, core beliefs of the Catholic faith and the faith journey
- critically examining the significance of the beliefs and practices of the Catholic faith through the history of the Church
- integrating official Church documents within professional practice.
