You must register for the proficiency test before you register for the FSL Part 1 AQ course, unless you qualify for an exemption. Please see details about exemptions below:
The following qualifications would exempt candidates from the proficiency test:
- have a bilingual certificate (from high school French Immersion)
- Graduated from a Francophone Secondary School (official transcript required from the secondary school)
- have a major in French language, linguistics or literature (official transcript required from the post secondary Institution)
- have a B.Ed in a Francophone B.Ed program
- have the DELF level B2
(You will need to provide proof of one of the above before being exempt from the proficiency test. Documentation for exemption from the FSL proficiency test can only be submitted at the time of registration.)
Upon successful completion of the test, you may enroll in FSL Part 1. Note: You must register for the AQ course within one year of successfully completing the test. If you are unsuccessful on the proficiency test, you may try again at a subsequent session of your choice. The test cannot be taken twice within the same session.
The test is accessed online and will occur virtually. To access the test, log into your AQ account, using your username and password obtained when you registered for an AQ account and follow the instructions detailing how to complete and submit the written component of the test. Upon completion, please send it to ETFO AQ. Once this is received, arrangements for completing the oral test over the phone will be emailed. Once you receive confirmation that you have succeeded on the test, you may register for the FSL Part 1 course.
