OTF Advocacy

OTF is involved in many advocacy activities, designed to raise the profile of the teaching profession in a positive manner. OTF’s advocacy work takes many forms such as community participation at events and in programs.

Did you know that OTF always participates in recognizing World Teachers' Day with the presentation of the OTIP Teaching Awards and several other activities? OTF is a member of the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care which works for solid early years' support for children and their families. The Word on the Street in Toronto offers OTF the opportunity to distribute such items as literature to parents to assist their children at school, reading lists to elementary students, and study tips to secondary students. It is a great promotion of a positive interaction among teachers, parents and students. For several years, OTF has participated in the Aboriginal Festival Education Day in November.

Of course, OTF advocates in numerous other areas such as with other educational stakeholders, parent groups, and the Ministry of Education.
